Remember, Laurie was the "politically aware" one in the family. She'd
want you to sing her the song they recorded to a whale singing (though=20
oddly, that has humpback whales in the background, while they are shown=20
recording next to a killer whale).
Or the song in the episode where they meet Richard Pryor and Louis=20
Gossette Jr. who are running a club, but end up with the Partridge Family
by accident. They are booking black acts, don't think the family will fit=
=20
in. So they all throw a block party to raise money to pay off the=20
loanshark. Keith writes some music, but it needs an orchestra. Danny=20
finds some pseudo-Black Panther group that comes marching along to do the=
=20
music. So sing that song, and that will make Laurie quiver.
I can't remember the song where they meet an old friend of her's who works
at the venue, but they are on strike. But Laurie wouldn't cross the=20
picket line. Michael Lembeck played the old friend, he later married=20
"Julie" on "One Day at a Time".
The episode with Holly Near would seem to provide a good song, but I think=
=20
Holly's character was non-political, and the song that time was a love=20
song. Holly then moved on to more political stuff, doing an FTA tour
with Jane Fonda, and then of course doing the women's music circuit for a=
=20
long time.
The one where the family meets the Morality Watchdogs. A woman at high=20
school that Keith is smitten with (well for that week) puts the family's
name on a poster for an upcoming women's lib rally without their=20
permission. That brings in the Morality Watchdogs who object to the=20
family performing, which makes them want to perform even though they
don't like being tricked into it. The girlfriend, "Tina", looked a
bit like Bernadine Dorhn. But I don't remember a political song that=20
time, I think they decided to give the public what they wanted, The=20
Partridge Family, rather than to give a nod to the point of the rally.
There was an episode about a runaway, I guess the song sort of dealt with=
=20
it, but not really political.
I don't think the episode where Danny gets drafted had an anti-war song.
I think they sang a mundane love song when they performed at the prison.
At the moment I can't think of any other particularly political episodes
that had non-love songs.
