That's not true. Obama was a guest after elected US Senator. Obama
demonstrated throughout his political career that he was always running
for higher office. So if this is a power of incumbency thing, all this
proves is how much more difficult it is for a potential challenger to
get onto a tv talk show. A talk show producer will argue that, well,
gee, we don't know who would be on the ballot in the future, so we're
not being unfair, but we won't put a challenger on tv during the
campaign even though we've had the incumbent on tv in the past and had
no interested in putting a potential challenger on at the time.
The only way for Oprah not to be disingenuous is to refuse to interview
incumbent elected officials too, unless they are actually lame ducks.
